The demand for exotic varieties of mushrooms, e.g. shiitake, shimeji, oyster mushrooms, etc…, has been growing significantly, driven by the increasing trend of eating healthy and natural food. To keep up with demand, many companies have been importing their entire ingredients, spawn or compost from overseas, then growing and selling them as if they are Australian products.
